There are many organizations and businesses that TWC is honored to partner with each year. However, those partners would be for not without the support from our volunteers, specifically those that serve as mentors, and facilitators within our programs themselves. You are and have been some of our most valuable partners since TWC was born. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Early in 2019, TWC announced a new partnership with our friends at Semper Fi Odyssey (SFO), who also share a common goal of supporting veterans. This new partnership allowed TWC to provide our signature programs, male veterans, female veterans, and military spouse retreats, at the Outdoor Odyssey camp in Boswell, PA. Both the facility and location are ideal for the programming that TWC offers, allowing our participants to detach from the distractions of modern living, spend time in nature's divine beauty, and share a cozy living space where retreat groups bonds in unique ways, as they travel the Warriors Journey path toward healing.
The offering of TWC retreats outside of our home state marked an essential step in the future of our organization, as this was the first time TWC offered our programming outside of Vermont. As a result, and although there were undoubtedly new and sometimes unanticipated challenges, this was significant growth for the organization and, again, another opportunity to partner with other like-minded organizations also doing good work in the world with veterans and at-risk youth. Thank you to Outdoor Odyssey and Major General Tom S. Jones for your trust and partnership. We look forward to our 2020 retreat season with you too!
Throughout the course of 2019, there were many other helping hands, including our friends at Mercy Medical Angels who assisted with our participant airline travel. New Chapter, Inc. provided funding, healthy products for our participants, and marketing support. While our friends at Pine Tree Foods & Equipment, Rebuild Hope, and Maybury Material Handling, along with so many others, also chipped in to support our programming through funding. Along with our local friends at the Keene Sentinel, who helped produce a wonderful community event called, "Duty Calls", that helped to raise awareness of veterans' causes and community support.
As The Warrior Connection looks ahead to the New Year, in 2020, TWC is looking to add strategic leadership to our Board of Directors. Specifically, those with experience in board leadership and expertise or skills in veteran programming, business partnership building, fundraising, and marketing. Additionally, we will hope to recruit and retain a Program Manager who will support TWC's retreat personnel and the participants we serve. And lastly, TWC will look to partner with additional corporate and foundation partners to help drive down the cost of the retreat operations through in-kind donations such as donated retreat space, assistance with ground transportation, and meals for retreat participants.
To all of our graduates and families, facilitators, staff, volunteers, and board members, and of course our donors and supporters, thank you for all your help in 2019.
