Peter F. May, Esq., is an international non-profit consultant and attorney with more than 25 years of experience in the global higher education and development assistance sectors. Peter advises the US and international higher education and non-profit institutions on strategy, business structure, board governance, strategic program partnerships, contracts, employment, risk, and crisis management, compliance, and international expansion. Peter most recently served as the chief legal officer for the American University of Beirut (AUB) and its 400-bed AUB Medical Center, in Lebanon.
Previously, he was vice president for administration, chief legal officer, and secretary for World Learning (founded in 1932 as The Experiment in International Living), a fully accredited higher education and development assistance NGO with education sites and project operations in 70 countries.
Peter’s diverse board experience includes serving as a director of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), Washington, DC, the Yale Arab Alumni Association, Beirut, Lebanon, the Downtown Brattleboro Alliance (DBA), Brattleboro, VT, and LastMileNet, LLC, Westminster West, Vermont. He has also held elected positions in local government, serving as Town Moderator of Putney, VT, and Chair of the Putney Town School Board.
